Hello everyone, my name is Amanda and I am currently a student of Professor Alexander's English 101 and 103 Research Methods: The Ethics of Food classes at LaGuardia Community College and this is my first official blog!
I can be a particularly picky eater when it comes to dairy, meats and vegetables. I purchase my groceries from any one specific store, but whichever supermarket is closest to me at the time. Many times, my groceries will consist different meats, a dozen eggs, a generous amount of fruits, very little vegetables and a whole lot of junk food! I have only tried Organic and whole food products very few times and I am not quite sure where I stand because I AM a fan of the unhealthy things in life.
I do believe food is my guilty pleasure and I sometimes tend to over indulge, whether it be pasta, steak, fresh fruits or grilled veggies.. the more the merrier. If you dare ask me to choose a single favorite unhealthy snack we would be here all day. To keep it simple, i like my snacks cheesy, greasy and definitely messy. Cheese fries, hot dogs, cheese nips, potato chips, pizza, burgers and chocolate are only a few of many of my favorite things to munch on (before and after dinner).
Though it is rare that I cook at home, I do enjoy it every once in a while. I have never really been concerned about where my food comes from before it reaches the kitchen table. Before now I've yet to ask myself if what I eat is really any good for me and how it may effect everyone and everything around me. Could eating too much of one thing really be so bad?
I don't really think it bad thing if eating too much of one thing. Even though all the food you discirbe are fating as long as you are exercise you will be fine.
ReplyDeletei do agree the sometimes you indulge in your favorite meal sometimes i over do it myself .especially when it comes to chocolate. the veggies are very good and atleast you do eat them. it took me awhile to getting use to eating anything that is green . but like trinetee explains as long as you exercise you will be fine :)
ReplyDeletei like the part of eating all that junk food its even getting me hungry at the moment. i tend to over eat myself when the food taste delicious, but when am going to take other bite I always remind myself am I eating cause am hungry or cause this food taste so good.
ReplyDeleteWhat a coincidence Amanda, I'm also part of Professor Alexanders English 101 and 103 class! I can relate on the whole going to the closest grocery store, unfortunately my dad has a vendetta with the owners of the Associated on my block. This means I have to walk six blocks uptown and go to another Associated that he finds suitable or else I get to hear him rant for days! I also eat a lot of fruits, mostly because I'm Pakistani which means I automatically have an uncle who owns a fruit stand and luckily its right by my house! I used to eat a lot of junk foods but ever since I got a job at a pretty health conscious nut and dried fruit store, I've started to move to the more healthy snacks! I never saw myself eating this "healthy" food but its actually pretty tasty, and it might taste a little better knowing that I'm snacking and staying healthy at the same time. I've always looked at food in the most common ways, something tasty, something thats going to fill me up for a good price. Then one day I asked a customer why she paid so much for some food and drinks she had with her and she said because when she made them part of her diet it actually made her feel better! I had never before thought that certain foods can make you feel better all around! I guess you can call it me being oblivious or just me never being educated enough about nutrition but its a crazy thing to think about, after all we do eat food everyday! I would be a hypocrite if I told you to not eat too much of one thing seeing as I eat what might be equivalent to 2 pizza pies a week. I'm pretty sure its an addiction at this point.
